Welcome back, Chargers

The 2011-2012 school year was certainly a year of firsts.
The Elings Center for Engineering Education opened in October as the future home for Dos Pueblos’ highly successful engineering academy robotics team, the D’Penguineers.
The Academy, a program launched in 2008 to give students who might otherwise drop out of high school an opportunity to re-engage in both school and life, graduated its first class of seniors.
And after Disney selected Dos Pueblos as one of the few schools in the nation to perform the high-flying performance of “Tarzan: The Musical,” the spring performance proved that the DP theater company has the chops to impress the toughest in the business.
But most notably through all these accomplishments was the transition The Charger Account made to become an online publication.
After partnering with Noozhawk and working diligently throughout the 2011 summer to get the site up and running, The Charger Account staff produced a slew of in-depth features, top-notch sports coverage, up-to-date news articles, and everything else in between.
And we have no intention of slowing down now.
As the 2012-2013 Editor in Chief, I have some ambitious goals set for this year’s staff members.
Not only are we going to have more photo galleries and play with the idea that “a picture is worth a thousand words,” but we are also going to tackle more series of in-depth articles that explore issues from various perspectives.
We are also going to have more “cross-over” articles that are hybrids between the features, sports, and entertainment sections, while fine-tuning the art of presenting an educated argument in the opinion section.
Since this is a publication for the students, by the students, we are also going to encourage our audience to write guest articles about anything and everything that is relevant to student life at Dos Pueblos.
Because of our talented team of writers, editors, and photographers for the coming school year, I am beyond confident that not only we will accomplish these goals, but we will exceed all expectations.
We will not settle for mediocrity. We will push the boundaries on all preconceived expectations. We will succeed. And as Chargers, we will thrive.
Welcome back, Chargers. Now let’s have another year of miraculous firsts.
