Boys Water Polo (Coach: Chris Parrish):

Dos Pueblos beat Villa Park 11-4 last Thursday in the first round of the CIF Division 2 playoffs.  Dylan Elliot, Jake Griffin, Taylor Gustason, Blake Parrish and Kelly Reynolds made two goals each followed by Quinn Peacock who added one.

Boys water polo ended their season last Saturday with a loss to Los Osos High School; the score was 11-8 in the quarterfinals of the CIF Division 2 playoffs. Blake Parrish made five goals, which moved him up to an eighth place spot on the all-time CIF Southern Section list for most water polo scores made in a single season with 204 goals. In addition, his 519-goal career set him up for a sixth-place spot in section history.

Cross Country (Coach: Bob Wilcher):

Varsity cross country advances to the CIF-SS Finals after both girls’ and boys’ teams placed fifth in their races last Saturday. Christina Rice led the girls with a tenth place finish in a time of 18:56. Trailing her heels was Elaine McClure in 13th just 14 seconds behind. The other Charger scorers were Natalie McClure in 25th, Tatianna Schluep in 38th and Joanna Zukin in 48th. Their total was 116 points.

On the boys’ side, Chris Wasjutin took 22nd in a time of 16:11. The rest of DP’s scorers finished one after the other: twin brother Ian Wasjutin came in close behind in 16:30, placing 32nd, only five seconds ahead of Nathan Alvarez, who finished 35th. Josh McGregor was just a second behind in 37th and Hunter Clark rounded out the score in 43rd, five seconds behind McGregor. The boys’ score was 159, tied with Baldwin Park High School. Each team’s sixth runner was added into the scores and DP’s sixth finisher, Paul “Graham” Wren in 58th, put the Chargers ahead. He was 14 seconds faster than Baldwin’s sixth place runner.

This Saturday, varsity cross country will return to Mt. San Antonio College for CIF Finals to compete for a spot in the State Championships. Boys race in the Division 3 run at 8:05 p.m. and girls race in the Division 3 run at 8:45 p.m.
