On Wednesday, May 13, Dos Pueblos’ tennis doubles teams lost to Loyola High 16-2 in the first round of CIF Playoffs. As a result, the Chargers will not advance to the second round of CIF Playoffs.
The teams of Joshua Wang/Vincent Villano and Miles Baldwin/Quinn Hensley were the only doubles teams from DP to win any sets, but couldn’t convert five sets to advance.
This was a rebuilding year for the team after losing many seniors last year.
“Nonetheless, I’m very proud of this team who remained positive throughout the three rounds and did their best,” said head coach Liz Frech in an email.
“In addition, the camaraderie and support have been outstanding all season.”
The team finished their season at 14-6 overall.
Last Thursday, May 7, Miles Baldwin and Joshua Wang had represented Dos Pueblos in the Channel League Individual Tournament semifinals round at San Marcos.
The duo made it to semifinals after advancing from the previous day’s Tournament. Ameet Braganza, Ryan Daniel, Mason Dochterman, Quinn Hensley and Vincent Villano had also competed in Wednesday’s game.
