Coming off of an intense victory-high from defeating Camarillo, the defending CIF SS Division 2 Champions, 1-0 on Wednesday, the Dos Pueblos softball team (20-2 overall, 9-1 in league) kept their now 11-game winning streak alive by shutting down Santa Barbara in five innings.
Freshman Veronika Gulvin made a memorable mark on her high school career not only by pitching her first complete game, but also by pitching a no-hitter.
“My screw and rise ball were working well, so I was getting them to chase a lot of pitches,” said Gulvin.
Earlier this week, Hannah Harris also delivered a no-hitter in the 11-0 win against the Dons.
But even after Harris’ dominating performance, Gulvin had just as much opportunity to shine. “Going into the game, I was confident and just excited to go pitch,” shared the freshman.
Gulvin struck out 12 batters in five innings of work to record the win.
Offensively for the Chargers, Chloe Madill, Emi Parker, Ady Willet, Haley Peterson, Monica Salas, Maddy Buie, and Gulvin all had multiple RBI’s.
Dos Pueblos resumes play in the Thousand Oaks Tournament this Saturday, when they face La Cañada in the semifinals.
