In a pitcher’s duel Tuesday afternoon at Dos Pueblos, the Chargers took down visiting Santa Monica 1-0. The run was scored on a pinch-hit single from freshman Ady Willett, which knocked in Cassie Davis from third.

After a lead-off double by Santa Monica in the top of the fifth, the Chargers responded by nailing the runner–who by then had got to third–on a comebacker to pitcher Hannah Harris. Then, in the bottom of the inning, a drag bunt by Davis started the rally that would eventually lead to her scoring the game’s only run.

This game was the second round of the CIF tournament, and Dos Pueblos will play La Habra next in the quarterfinals.

Pitcher Harris turned in a solid performance, only giving up one hit through seven innings.
