“Clap your hands. Dance if you want to. After all, we are fun.”

Those were the words from Nate Reuss, frontman of the pop-rock trio fun., to the very crowded Santa Barbara County Bowl this past Saturday night. Still playing off the release of their incredibly successful sophomore album Some Nights and their recent double triumph at the Grammys for Best New Artist and Song of the Year, the band brought a leg of their celebratory Most Nights tour to Santa Barbara.

Stepping on stage at just about 8:30 following the stellar opening performance by twin sister duo Tegan and Sara, fun. played a fifteen song, hour and a half long set that included their smash hits “We Are Young” and “Carry On” and ended with a cover of rock legend Bruce Springsteen’s hit “Born To Run,” before coming back on stage for an encore that included “Some Nights” and “Stars.”

One of the show’s more notable moments, however, came during “Barlights” (a track from fun.’s debut album, Aim and Ignite) when tons of white confetti shot from cannons hung in the air like a cloud as bright, colorful lights flashed, painting both the crowd and the confetti in colors of every kind. The band thanked the the attendants for their appearance and energy, also announcing that they would be working on a third album in the near future, much to the crowd’s pleasure.
