Dos Pueblos’ Girls Golf team took on San Marcos on Tuesday afternoon for a windy fifth match of the season. The Chargers remained undefeated as they won, 208-262 at Glen Annie Golf Club.

“We’re pretty experienced for the most part and we’ve either won or shared over 18 straight league titles,” Girls Golf coach, Rob Schiff said. “I’d say that builds a long term confidence— not cockiness— but confidence and it’s always fun to play your rivals. There’s probably a little more adrenaline.”

Senior Bella Vigna scored the team low of the match, shooting an even par 35 and earning her medalist honors. Junior Gabby Minier who shot a 36 and senior Julia Forster who shot 39 also helped lead The Chargers to victory.

“I’m proud of the team for playing so well in such windy conditions,” said Vigna. “I lowered my putting average which is good because it’s something I’ve been struggling with this season.”

Though the Royals were defeated, San Marcos coach, Aaron Solis believes the team is continuously improving as the season progresses.

“We lost a lot of seniors last year,” Solis said. “We had five seniors on the team that played a lot, so it’s a learning year. It’s a rebuilding year, but they’re working hard and we’re getting better every match.”

The Chargers will be playing Rio Mesa on Thursday and hope to continue their winning streak.
